Since 1991

Welcome in the history of PROEL

35 years to the rhythm of music and entertainment

1991 — The first year

Proel is founded in Italy as a manufacturer of assembled cables. A starting point built on technical know-how in the connectivity sector, with the aim of guaranteeing quality and reliability from the very first product.

1994 — Shining cables

Proel introduces a new series of assembled cables featuring 6.3 mm gold-plated connectors and housings in a special rubber compound. A first step in product differentiation, designed to raise the standard of Made in Italy in the accessories market.

1997 — Headquarters: a new beginning

The company consolidates its structure and, by 1997, takes a fundamental step: establishing an internal Research, Design and Prototyping department dedicated to sound reinforcement. A strategic investment to bring development under direct control, strengthen the technical core of the business, and ensure the entire creative and engineering process remains firmly Made in Italy.

1998 — Feel the beat

Proel acquires Tamburo Drums, a historic brand founded by master drum builder Tullio Granatello. The integration brings together artisanal craftsmanship and industrial production capacity, expanding the group’s expertise into the musical instruments sector.

2003 — A new strategy…

The group defines a diversification strategy to address the full spectrum of the entertainment industry: from musical instruments and accessories to professional audio and lighting solutions, serving the MI, rental and installation channels.

2003 — …and a new acquisition

Proel enters the professional lighting sector through the acquisition of Sagitter, a brand founded in 1992 and recognized on the international market for its product innovation. The move completes the group’s coverage of the live entertainment chain.

2007 — More and more international

The group acquires Turbosound Ltd, a British leader in sound reinforcement systems. The acquisition strengthens Proel’s technical and commercial position in the global market, integrating advanced loudspeaker design expertise into the company’s R&D structure.

2012 — Our high technology speakers are born

Proel launches the NEOS AXS professional loudspeaker series, featuring proprietary Core DSP technology (96 kHz / 40-bit) and Pronet remote control software: the result of in-house development for high-performance sound reinforcement systems. As it integrates this innovation into its portfolio, the company introduces Axiom, the proprietary pro-audio brand focused on the design and engineering of advanced professional audio systems, bringing together technological innovation, rigorous performance standards, and seamless system integration for live events, installations, and touring.

2015 — The new deal

Proel acquires the former Roland Europe production facilities in Italy, adding approximately 25,000 square metres of headquarters, R&D and manufacturing space. Twenty-five former Roland employees — senior figures in research and production — join the group to launch Dexibell, a new brand of digital pianos built on exclusive T2L (True to Life) technology.

2016 — A new production frontier

Having re-adapted its internal structure, the company now turns decisively toward overseas markets. This year, it acquires and launches a new production facility in Tunisia, fulfilling the need for a faster response to international demand.

2017 — Landing in North America

In the following year, the same strategy brings Proel closer to northern America, establishing it as its new frontier: both the professional audio and musical instrument divisions take root in the United States and Canada, marking a defining step in the company’s international trajectory.

2018 — A main “column” for live shows

Axiom column-array systems are introduced for the professional live market. Designed for touring and fixed installations, the line represents the group’s ability to translate R&D investment into targeted solutions for high-demand sound reinforcement applications.

2019 — On and on, the experience center

With every change of path that involves significant changes in both internal structure and export capabilities comes the need for a space that can further support advancement. Finding itself in this very situation, Proel launches its “ON&ON” theatre: an 800-square-meter facility designed for iterative development, real-world product testing, and live demonstration, where engineering is validated under authentic conditions before reaching the market.

2021 — Always looking forward

Thirty years of activity. Proel presents itself as an integrated system: a strategic network of R&D, logistics, production and direct distribution operating across all reference channels. A presence in over 100 countries, with a portfolio of brands covering professional audio, lighting, musical instruments, commercial audio and pro-stage.

2022 — Trusted by the best

Now that the company’s know-how is no longer a secret to partners located all over the world, one of the most renowned companies in the music equipment world, Korg, chooses Proel for the production of its new range of digital accordions, “Fisa Suprema”: a soon to be success, praised by professionals and casual players alike.

2023 — A world connected by cable

There are very few companies that can show how interconnected the world can be. Proel does so in the most practical terms: the number of cables sold since its launch could circle the globe 1,250 times if laid end to end. A testament to its product’s reliability.

2024 — Sound without boundaries

Extending musicians’ capabilities is also a matter of technological research and refinement: a principle that translates into tools and systems designed to remove barriers between the artist and their vision.

2026 — 35 years, still tuning forward

Thirty-five years have passed since the company’s foundations were laid. Since then, all efforts have been channeled toward refining “the essentials”: a reliable production system, a full package of services covering all requests, and a worldwide presence — all producing the same carefully considered output each time.
